The Rise of Porn on the Internet

The National Research Council estimates the online porn market to be in the $1 Billion range annually. Seattle based web filtering company N2H2 keeps a porn site database, which has grown 18 fold in the last 6 years.

Number of porn sites in the N2H2 Database*:

Year Number of Porn Pages Number of Porn Sites
1998 14,366,2090 71,831,
1999 25,837,800 129,189
2000 48,414,400 242,072
2001 62,330,400 311,652
2002 177,501,000 887,505
2003 260,000,000 1,300,000

For the best protection against the rapidly growing number of adult sites and pages
you need a filter that can block adult sites without having to find them first. Two
Filters that will do that is:
CyberSentinel - Blocks without a filter list
Kidsnet - Only allows access to predefined "safe" sites - All others are blocked.
