Kidsnet_button1.jpg (3955 bytes) A proactive way tokeep your family safe on the internet.

Kidsnet is a different kind of parental control filter because it provides a proactive (not reactive) way to keep your family safe from harmful internet content.   It provides a virtual world of sites that have been pre-checked and pre-screened. This way you can be confident that every site that is available to your children   through kidsnet has already been seen by a reviewer and is safe for use by your family.

What's wrong with Typical Filters?
Most internet content filters work by finding bad internet sites, and then adding them to a list of sites that are blocked when access is attempted. The inherent problems in this method are  three fold:

Typical Filter Software is...
1. ...Reactive. This method waits for bad sites to appear and then attempts to find them and do something about it.

2. ...Incomplete. Filters that block by an exclusion list, by design, will never have all objectional sites in the block list. New objectionable sites are appearing all the time.  Those objectionable sites are available during the period while the filter is searching for and finding the bad site. It does not become blocked until: a. The site has been found and categorized, b. Added to the filter list and (optionally depending on how your filter works) c. The new updated filter list has been downloaded to your PC. (This last item does not apply to the S4F filter because the filter list is kept on servers and the servers are checked directly.)

3. ...More Prone to Fail.   Black list Filtering software are in the cross hairs of  crafty adult website owners who resort to well known tricks to defeat black list filters.  Since many of them are unscrupulous, they resort to tricks to get their sites viewed such as using multiple site URL's  (site names - in hopes one is not blocked); intentionally misspelling commonly searched for terms  (in hopes the misspelling is not in the filter list); or popping up literally dozens of sites when trying to leave their site (- they open faster than you can close them all). These are among a number of other tricks, but none of these tricks work with Kidsnet because none of the adult sites that start the cascading effect can be reached in the first place.

How is  Kidsnet  Different?
Kidsnet is different because it does not try to keep up with all the bad sites that come out. Kidsnet finds all the good sites (Sites that represent over 98% of all web site traffice are in the database.)  and gives your family access only to those sites. With this "white list" strategy, you get a much safer and reliable product:

Kidsnet is...:
1. ...Proactive
- Actively seeking the Good sites, and adding them to the database of accessible sites.

2. ...Complete - The Kidsnet white list is filled completely with pre-viewed, pre-approved sites. While it is possible that a formerly approved site's content may change to something undesirable and so slip into the database, this is extremely rare - especially in comparison to the number of failures typical with "black list" filters.

3. ...More Reliable - Since only pre-approved sites can be viewed, it doesn't matter what games the "adult" site owners play, whether it be intentially misspelled site names, misleading titles, or whatever;  since such sites are not on the approved list, they will not be displayed - period, regardless of the inducement.

Simply Put: Kidsnet is the Ultimate Parental Control: Kidsnet enables you to create the safest Internet environment possible. With Kidsnet your children can not access a Web site unless Kidsnet has been there first and rated its content and context.
